1. What is Freedom & Purity Ministries?
Freedom & Purity Ministries is a Christian ministry dedicated to helping believers break free from sexual sin and walk in lasting purity. We address both the spiritual (demonic oppression) and fleshly (carnal nature) roots of bondage. Deliverance comes first, followed by discipleship, mind renewal, and accountability.
2. What do you mean by “deliverance”?
Deliverance is the biblical practice of casting out unclean spirits in the name of Jesus Christ (Mark 16:17). If demonic influence is present, it must be removed first — like clearing an infection before healing a wound — so that the believer can fully receive truth and walk in freedom.
3. Who do you help?
We help Christians who are struggling with sexual sin in any form, including:
-
Lust and temptation
-
Pornography addiction
-
Adultery or sexual immorality
-
Same-sex attraction or gender confusion
-
Compulsive sexual behaviors
We also help those who have suffered sexual abuse and are battling its lingering spiritual and emotional effects.
4. Do you provide counseling or pastoral care?
Yes. We provide biblical counseling, prayer ministry, and deliverance sessions. Our work is not psychological therapy but Scripture-based discipleship that addresses both spiritual strongholds and patterns of the flesh.
5. How is your approach different from other Christian counseling?
Many Christian counselors focus only on behavior change or accountability. We address both:
-
The spiritual root — breaking demonic influence through deliverance.
-
The fleshly root — renewing the mind, building habits of holiness, and walking in the Spirit.
This combined approach provides deep and lasting freedom.
6. Do you charge for your ministry?
At this time, ministry sessions are offered free of charge, supported by freewill offerings and donations. We never turn anyone away for inability to give. In the future, we may offer paid workshops or resources to sustain and expand the ministry.
7. Is everything kept confidential?
Absolutely. Everything shared in counseling or deliverance sessions is kept strictly confidential, except in cases where the law requires reporting (such as current abuse of a minor).
8. Do I have to be a Christian to receive help?
Our ministry is fully grounded in the Bible and the authority of Jesus Christ. Deliverance and discipleship are effective only when someone is willing to repent of sin and follow Christ. We welcome anyone who sincerely desires freedom and is open to the gospel.
9. What if I’ve tried to quit before and failed?
You are not alone. Many people seeking our help have tried to stop on their own without lasting success. Our approach breaks the cycle by dealing with both the spiritual and the carnal sides of the struggle.
10. How can my church get involved?
We welcome partnerships with pastors and churches who want to provide a safe, biblical resource for members struggling in this area. We offer informational meetings, workshops, and training for church leaders.
11. Isn’t this just conversion therapy rebranded?
This is a crucial distinction. Let’s lay it out plainly:
🚫 Conversion Therapy (1970s–2000s)
- Approach: Externally imposed suppression. “Stop being this way. Stop desiring. Force yourself to change.”
- Tactics: Shame, fear, aversion conditioning, behavior modification, sometimes prayer used as a tool of pressure rather than relationship with God.
- Core Error: Romans 7 approach — law without life. It demanded righteousness without providing the Spirit’s power.
- Fruit: Guilt, hidden struggles, hypocrisy, rebellion. Many who endured it associated “Christianity” with legalistic bondage, not true gospel freedom.
✅ A Romans 8 Approach
- Approach: Spirit-led transformation. Not “try harder” but “walk in the Spirit” (Romans 8:4–6).
- Tactics:
- Begin with no condemnation (Romans 8:1).
- Train believers to set their minds on the Spirit daily.
- Teach them to mortify the deeds of the flesh through the Spirit (Romans 8:13), not through shame.
- Strengthen identity as children of God (Romans 8:15).
- Provide community, confession, and prayer (James 5:16, Hebrews 10:24–25).
- Core Reality: This is not man’s program, but God’s promise. Change comes from regeneration and sanctification, not reprogramming.
- Fruit: Assurance, growth in holiness, endurance in trials, and confidence in God’s love (Romans 8:31–39).
🧠 Psychological Difference
- Conversion therapy worked by externally suppressing desires (a doomed strategy that aligns with what psychology calls repression).
- Romans 8 discipleship works by renewing identity, re-training attention, building healthy patterns, and fostering secure attachment to God and others — which even psychological research supports as far more effective than shame-based suppression.
- In habit science terms: conversion therapy = “white-knuckle avoidance.” Romans 8 discipleship = “identity-based habit change,” which is both biblically sound (new creation in Christ) and psychologically sustainable.
⚖️ Bottom Line
The difference is this:
- Conversion therapy = man’s effort to suppress sin without Spirit.
- Romans 8 discipleship = God’s Spirit transforming believers from the inside out.
One leads to rebellion and despair. The other leads to freedom and newness of life in Christ.
