I’ve heard it in many churches, “we need a revival – a great awakening!” Can it happen before the end of this age, or are we on a countdown?
I know that a lot of Christians are praying for a revival – a new awakening – to occur in this nation. It’s true that God’s Wrath can be held off as it was in Nineveh (for a generation) when Jonah told the people, “Yet forty days, and Nineveh will be overthrown.”
But what those people hoping for a revival fail to see is that this new attitude of “sackcloth & ashes” came – and must come – from the top down.
“For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water: but let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?” ~Jonah 3:6-9 KJV
During the time of Jonah, there was a “great awakening”, which turned the nation of Nineveh back to God.
Folks, we had that already; in fact, we had 4 of them (1730-60, 1800-1840, 1890-1930, and the 1960s)!
Nineveh got one. We got 4. Do you really think we will have any more? I don’t, but hey, I’ve been wrong before.
Honestly, I don’t see any more Presidents, including Biden, saying from their office, “we need to turn back to God.” Trump was the last one – the last “King of Nineveh (Jonah 3:7-9).
This has not, nor do I see it happening before the 7 years of Hell on Earth.
