The eerie similarities of the D.C. Capitol riots and the Reichstag building fire of 1933 can be plainly seen, especially the aftermath of rights lost by the American people.

I find myself pondering the quote of Mark Twain when he said that “history doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes.” From the Bible to political events, art, finances, and everything in-between, the rhyming themes do seem to surface often. With this in mind, let’s take a look at the Washington D.C. riot that happened on January 6, 2021 and the Reichstag Fire that happened in Berlin, Germany on February 27, 1933.
The burning of a building and the rise of evil.
“The Reichstag Fire was an arson attack on the Reichstag building, home of the German parliament in Berlin, on Monday, February 27, 1933, precisely four weeks after Adolf Hitler was sworn in as Chancellor of Germany. Hitler’s government stated that Marinus van der Lubbe, a Dutch council communist, was the culprit, and it attributed the fire to communist agitators. A German court decided later that year that Van der Lubbe had acted alone, as he had claimed. The day after the fire, the Reichstag Fire Decree was passed. The Nazi Party used the fire as a pretext to claim that communists were plotting against the German government, which made the fire pivotal in the establishment of Nazi Germany.” ~Reichstag fire. The fire was blamed on the Communist party, when it was later determined that one man did it. The overtones of this fact alone is deafening as Trump supporters and many Republicans are being blamed for spreading the “violent ideology” that caused “Trump supporters” to lay siege to the Capitol building.
What’s more concerning about the Reichstag fire is what happened a day after.
Freedoms eliminated in the blink of an eye.
The Reichstag Fire Decree permitted the regime to arrest and incarcerate political opponents without specific charge, dissolve political organizations, and to suppress publications. It also gave the central government the authority to overrule state and local laws and overthrow state and local governments. The decree was a key step in the establishment of the Nazi dictatorship.” ~Reichstag Fire Decree — United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. (2021). Well, it didn’t take a day for our freedoms to be taken, but the theme is in plain site. Read the added article of the German Reich Constitution and see for yourself:
“On the basis of Article 48 paragraph 2 of the Constitution of the German Reich, the following is ordered in defense against Communist state-endangering acts of violence:
§ 1. Articles 114, 115, 117, 118, 123, 124 and 153 of the Constitution of the German Reich are suspended until further notice. It is therefore permissible to restrict the rights of personal freedom [habeas corpus], freedom of (opinion) expression, including the freedom of the press, the freedom to organize and assemble, the privacy of postal, telegraphic and telephonic communications. Warrants for House searches, orders for confiscations as well as restrictions on property, are also permissible beyond the legal limits otherwise prescribed.” ~Reichstag Fire Decree. (2011). When I reviewed this new rule to Germany’s Constitution, I felt like I got punched in the face. With Twitter, Facebook, and most of the other social media platforms banning not only President Trump, but major Conservative voices, banks closing their doors to Trump, Parler getting booted from the Apple, Google app stories, as well as being kicked off of Amazon servers, and a growing number of rights being taken away, you can’t help but notice where we are going.
So, what’s next?
To me, none of this comes as a surprise, as we are getting closer and closer to an antichrist kingdom as found in Revelation 13. We have been seeing the infrastructure being set up for decades not only in this country, but around the world. Now is the time, my brothers and sisters in Christ, where we need to press hard the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-18). This world is about to face judgement, and we should be keenly aware of this. Remember, the Reichstag building fire was the pivot point in history where Nazi Germany began it’s rise. I believe that the Capitol riot of January 6, 2021 will be a similar point in time where the quick rise of the antichrist kingdom will go into full swing, and a tyrant will rise from it’s ashes.
