“In the Name of Love” is a song coming on a day where I learn about “Busking”. I think I’ve been doing this all along.
In the Name of Love. by U2, is one of those songs that never loses it’s appeal and will always be around. I wanted to do things a little different, hence the “selfie” during my performance. This was a suggestion by a friend on Facebook (I guess I can be presumptuous and call him a fan). He suggested that it would be more engaging to see my face. I had to laugh at that and replied to him “Mike, I want to get money for this gig, not drive people away with my ugly mug”.
This is also the day that I learned about something that, well, I’ve known all along but didn’t know the name,..Busking.
I’ve always enjoyed seeing street musicians and I will always give them my folded appreciation if I have any. Busking is something that I would like to do, but never had the courage to do, that is, until this project. I think that with all the crud that is being spewed out into this world, the gift of music by good musicians is much needed. Busking is NOT panhandling as the musicians give something back and the people are free to give some money or walk on by. Keep your eyes open because you might start seeing me at more places than under the overpass.
Only 80 days left…
Lyrics:
One man come in the name of love
One man come and go
One man come he to justify
One man to overthrow
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
One man caught on a barbed wire fence
One man he resist
One man washed up on an empty beach
One man betrayed with a kiss
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
Early morning, April four
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
