What is the first sentence Jesus said to His disciples before Christ gave His Olivet Discourse in Matthew 24? “Take heed that no man deceive you.”
Please think about that for a minute. These men had been with Jesus for three and a half years. They have listened to His teachings. They knew the Gospel, yet Christ warned them to be mindful – not to be deceived.
Don’t think too highly of yourselves in the area of spiritual deception. Don’t think, “well, I know my Bible. That won’t happen to me.” I tell you the truth; I targeted Christians with that mindset back in the day. As a result, many of them walked off their confident path.
Take heed that no man (or woman) deceives you.
