The Top 10 Offensive Sayings of Jesus

The Top 10 Offensive Sayings of Jesus

I can’t believe Jesus said this stuff. There’s no love, no inclusiveness, no tolerance, none of that. Just read what came out of his own mouth.

Jesus hates poor people

You know, Judas wasn’t such a bad dude.  There was this one time where these two ladies wanted to destroy something valuable, all for the sake of Jesus and Judas tried to stop them saying that they could help the poor (John 12:5).  Not only did Jesus tell him off, but he said that you’ll always have the poor with them (John 12:8, Matthew 26:11, Mark 14:7).  Jesus doesn’t care about the poor, only himself, I mean, it’s in the Bible.

He’s not a peacemaker

WOW!  I thought Jesus was a man of peace, but he’s a blood-thirsty man that wants violence (Matthew 10:34, Luke 12:51).  Here we all are trying to bring peace into the world through our efforts and actions and these Christians are promoting a man that wants violence.  Even Jesus tells a story about killing people in front of him (Luke 19:27).

Jesus hates gay people

This is a big one!  Jesus doesn’t want gay people to have the same rights/privileges of marriage as heterosexual people (Matthew 19:5).  He should have been more inclusive and said: “a man, or woman, or gender neutral shall leave z Father and a man, or woman, or gender neutral leave z home.”  You know, Jesus should have not even used genders at all!

Jesus said you’re stupid

Ok, one time, there was a man that wanted to talk to Jesus about some of the stuff he was teaching.  He wanted to ask a question and Jesus called him STUPID (John 3:10)!  I mean, since when has the quest of knowledge made one stupid!  Jesus even called his disciples, the people that gave up everything to follow him, stupid (Mark 4:13),

Destroying public property

So Jesus comes riding in thinking he’s some sort of royalty (Matthew 21:1-11) and he gets off and DESTROYS PUBLIC PROPERTY (John 2:13-16)!  I mean, there were people that were starting up a business, trying to feed their families and Jesus wrecks the place!  He even accuses them of stealing stuff (Matthew 21:13).

Jesus is not inclusive

Ok, this disciple wanted to do more to show his love for this mean Jesus, but Jesus, being so exclusive, decides to really show his true colors (John 13:8).

No respect for the dead

What would you think of a man that has no respect for the dead?  There was this guy that wanted to follow Jesus (although I don’t know why at this point), even while he was in mourning.  All this guy wanted to do is bury his father (Luke 9:59), but Jesus decides to show his true self and disrespect this man and the dead (Luke 9:60).  How hateful.

Um, who are you again?

WOW!  What a memory this Jesus has.  He has all these people doing stuff for him and then he seems to forget all about them when it suits this peaceful Jesus (Matthew 7:21-23).  What did they do?  Lawlessness, really?!  I thought Jesus was all about love.

You ain’t my kids

Ok, I thought Jesus was all about family, but I was totally wrong.  One time, right in the middle of a crowd, Jesus totally disrespects his mom and siblings (Matthew 12:47-48).  How could he do such a thing, I mean, his own mother, but it goes even further (Matthew 12:49).  Jesus disrespects his mother and brothers in front of everyone and abandons his family for a bunch of unemployed followers.  He even goes as far as to tell some people that they’re sons and daughters of Satan (John 8:44)

It’s my way or no way

This is the big one for me.  How does this Jesus get away with saying such a xenophobic thing (John 14:6)?  Who’s truth Jesus, your truth, his truth, my truth?  What about all the other religions, what about them Jesus?  He is SO hateful, I don’t know how anyone could even love this guy.

Reading these passages out of context or without the accompanying verses can give anyone a much different perspective on the character of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.  Jesus laid down some pretty heavy truths and never strayed from the Will of God.  In our culture today, Jesus, most likely, would be be considered a “relic” of a time too primitive to be remembered, saying hateful things, thus making himself appear to be a xenophobic, racist, violent tyrant of a man by the standards of our western culture today.

God/Jesus showed us what perfect love was by taking the sentence we were supposed to serve and giving his life willingly for those that He (Jesus) loved but didn’t love Him (John 3:16, 1 John 4:19, Romans 5:7-8).

If you feel like something’s up, like you’re asking some big questions and feeling like there’s got to be more than just accomplishing goals, getting that perfect job, money or a relationship, then God might be calling you.  God chooses us first (Ephesians 1:4-5, John 6:44, Romans 8:29) and we who are chosen hear in some way, shape or form about Jesus (Matthew 13:1-9; 18–23).  At that moment, or maybe later while the story of Jesus sets in your mind, you believe it, seeing how that applies to you (Luke 13:1-3, 1 Corinthians 1:18, then you say out loud that Jesus is Lord (Romans 10:9).  That’s all, because there’s no way to work your way to Heaven or back into God’s good graces on your own (Isaiah 64:6, Ephesians 2:8-9).

If you are feeling called by God, take up this moment to call out to Jesus, because we are not guaranteed our next breath (Proverbs 27:1, James 4:14).
