Music

Music bio graphicI was born and raised in the small town of Trenton, Mo. I am the youngest of four children. My mother, Betty Wimer, is a retired school teacher, and my father, Bob Wimer is a retired barber. I got my first taste of music at a very early age when I was exposed to Andrew Llyod Webber’s "Jesus Christ Superstar".

My involvement in music started in elementary school with the S.M. Rissler choir. Later, I picked up the saxophone and was included in the Trenton Golden Bulldogs Marching Band, but my main emphasis was in voice. I has been involved in all district / state choir in high school and received high marks at contest time. In college, I was involved in several major choral works that include, Brahms’s "Requiem", Mozart’s "Requiem", Beethoven’s "Symphony No. 9", Ralph Vaughan William’s "A Sea Symphony", and many others.

I attended Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, MO where I majored in music with an emphasis in vocal performance. My voice teachers has included, Clay Dawson, Jeff Nolte, Stephen Loss, Lynne Goodman, and Frank Thomas. I am currently studying under the tutelage of Dr. David Benz of M.W.S.U.  I have been involved with singing and teaching for over 20 years.

I have been involved in numerous solo performances, which include singing our nation’s national anthem at the Kansas City Royals on several occasions, featured soloist on "Carols and Lullabies", "Race For The Cure", and several others. I have also put out several albums ranging from Classical, Jazz, Christian, Folk, and Adult Contemporary.

When I am not performing, I can be found at the Grundy County Jewett Norris Library, where I am the System / Network Administrator and Cataloger. I am also involved in web design, computer repair, photography, video, and audio production. I am also the choir director at Wesley United Methodist Church in Trenton, MO.

I am involved with the St. Joseph Community Chorus based out of St. Joseph Missouri. The chorus performs music ranging from classical to jazz.

I have been working with computer hardware and software for twelve years, and within the last nine years I have put my interests to good use, helping individuals and small businesses in the Trenton area with computer problems, basic education, and orientation to their systems as well as assisting with software and peripherals; those with whom I worked can attest that I was "on call" for most anyone who required assistance in these areas.

Using my skills and experience, I was able to recover a Trenton resident’s computer after a virus infected her system. She was unable to boot into her operating system, much less retrieve any data. Through quick and careful diagnosis, I was able to recover her OS without having to reinstall and with no loss of data. Afterwards, I set up preventive measures and left her a list of helpful sites and Ubuntu logosteps in the event it should happen again. Another example of my troubleshooting skills would include a small business, also out of Trenton, MO, which encountered a power supply problem with their server. I was able to find and install a new power supply within an hour, thus saving them 1 to 2 weeks without a system, not to mention possible loss of revenue during that time. These are just a few examples of what I have done in the last 9 years.

I am currently working as the System / Network Administrator for the Grundy County Jewett Norris Library where my job includes managing and maintaining the computer systems, wired / wireless networks, the library's website, as well as troubleshooting patron computer issues.

Others skills include:

  • Photography
  • Graphic design
  • Photo restoration and colorization
  • Audio restoration
  • Photo mosaic creation
  • Website design and management
