A Christian's Perspective on the Impeachment of Donald Trump

A Christian’s Perspective on the Impeachment of Donald Trump

What Christians/Republicans that voted for President Trump & support him during this time need to remember are two things:  1.  His fate is not in the hands of people but in the Hands of God, and 2.  Don’t take up the hubris the Democrats had during the 2016 election, as the results might not go your way if God is finished with Donald Trump.

As of the writing of this post, the House has passed articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump and now the trial will begin in the Senate.  It is with this decision made by the house that I wanted to get my thoughts down on this very important matter of the time we are living in as it is a message to Christians and non-believers, from a follower of Jesus Christ.

All throughout this impeachment proceedings, God has put in my mind the book of Daniel, specifically what happened to King Nebuchadnezzar and what happened to Daniel during the reign of King Darius.  I see a rhyme happening from two perspectives, and, depending on how God has weighed President Trump’s heart, the outcome could go either way, both of which can be found in the book of Daniel.  I will list them accordingly.

Trump could get removed from office – but only if God is through with him.

King Nebuchadnezzar was, well, not a nice man.  His character was in question and, more than likely, his assertion to the kingship of Babylon was not founded on the electoral vote.  Nebuchadnezzar was a bad man, BUT God allowed him (and other leaders) to hold positions of power (Daniel 2:21).  It is in this passage that I stand – and will always stand – that God, not the voters, put Donald Trump in the White House.

But that could easily be reversed, not by the men/women of the Senate, but by God Himself.

If we read further in Daniel 4, we see that King Nebuchadnezzar, because of his pride, a pride that he accomplished all the things of his kingdom and not God, was driven mad and removed as King for a period of 7 years.  A warning that was issued by God through Daniel was not heeded when Nebuchadnezzar uttered the phrase, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty? (I will say that this tone sounds very familiar today)  In this instance, he became insane and was removed as King to dwell in the land as a type of beast.  It was only after he lifted his eyes to Heaven – to praise God – that his understanding returned.

Am I saying that Trump is going to live like a beast – no, but I will say that if God, in His dealings with President Trump, finds this type of pride, God, not the House or Senate, will remove the man.

This is the first possible outcome.  Let’s move on to the second.

Trump won’t be removed.  He will get “promoted” (re-elected), and the people that started this whole mess will have a very bad ending.

King Darius liked Daniel, but the governors and satraps hated Daniel’s “excellent spirit,” not to mention that Daniel had a position of power over them, so, like many in government today, they devised a plot to get rid of Daniel.  They, the ones under Daniel’s authority, under the rulership of Darius, twisted the law to suit their purposes, but, as many will remember the story of Daniel in the lions den, the plot to remove Daniel failed and everyone involved, including the family members indirectly involved, were devoured by lions (you can read about it in Daniel 6).

If God is indeed not through with the man, our President Donald Trump, then those that have done their version of law twisting to remove God’s anointed from the office of President will see their own version of being “devoured by lions.”

Mark Twain said, “History doesn’t repeat itself but it often rhymes,” and it is with this ideology that I see these two possibilities.  I’m not a fortune teller, but I can read the Bible and I see the hand of God in this impeachment process as well as Donald Trump being elected President in 2016 and, quite possibly 2020.

A warning

What Christians/Republicans that voted for President Trump & support him during this time need to remember are two things:  1.  His fate is not in the hands of people but in the Hands of God, and 2.  Don’t take up the hubris the Democrats had during the 2016 election, as the results might not go your way if God is finished with Donald Trump.  For any of President Trump’s supporters that profess to be a follower of Jesus Christ to say that Trump’s fate “now lies in the hands of the Senate” – well, you’re looking at the “wrong hands.”

In any event, God’s Will WILL be done and not humanities.
